Toronto - Health Food Day

Joe slept over last night. No hanky panky. Bummer. Especially for him. I was a sleepy head and fell asleep at 9:30pm!!! Freaking 9:30pm. Rather embarrassing. We did get to fool around in the morning. I like morning for that best any way. Still 9:30pm!

Once he was off to work I did some work of my own and then I went to do a little health food shopping at a big store they have in Toronto. Big by health food standards. Small by Maxi, Loblaws standards. Definitely an awesome experience for me. I picked up a tofu roast that I will serve for Thanksgiving this weekend. It is packed in my suitcase I hope it withstands the trip. We will see. Fingers crossed.

Toronto - About Tuesday

Last night I attended Raymi the Minx’s art opening. She runs a personal blog where she documents her life. She posts of stories both wild and mundane as well as photos. It is very entertaining. Besides writing she also paints. When I realized I would be in Toronto the same time she was having her vernisage I knew I would have to attend. I am a little chicken about going alone but I was also looking forward to it. There is something neat about going to an event where no one knows you. Making a first impression is a scary thing, but you also don’t have to ever see the people again so ‘what do I have to lose? Things turned out OK and I got the nerve to chat to some fun looking people. The gin and tonic may have helped.

Before I went to her show I also went to a taping of the show The Hour. Julie was the guest. I did not know what to expect. She has all this drama that surrounds her and I can see why she would want to tell her side of the story, but I also wonder how important it is. I am not sure what her life is like. Is she close to her family? Does writing a book help her gain respect from them? Is it about future work opportunities? Yes, there was nonsense said about her, but who believed it. Well, after seeing a report like this about American Presidential candidate I am leaning towards the thinking that there are people who believe what they want to believe. I suppose that Ms. Couillard must feel she needs to go on the offensive (and make some money while she can). In any case, I think she did a good job answering George (the interviewer’s) questions. She seemed very confident and prepared. She must be bright.

At the end of the taping there was this weird pizza give away that included a pizza thrower extradonaire. It was seriously weird. Such a out of the blue wacky moment. Had to shoot a bit of video of it.

Where Are my Mice?

Yesterday was a busy bee kind of day. I worked for many hours on a new costume for a burlesque number. It is a number I have done a few times before. One I like a lot. But I have never had the perfect bra and panty set for it. I usually wear my pink sequined frou frou dress which I adore but with non-matching bra and panties underneath. Well, that will change from Friday on as I have sewed (and sewed and sewed and sewed – Cinderella had those magical mice – I want me some of them) some special beaded pieces onto an old pink bra and panty set that I no longer we. It was my priciest set – well, at least $180. It lost some of its elasticity in recent months, but I did get lots of wear out if it over the years and now it wills tick around a little longer as a costume.

In the evening, after my webcam show, I went to a friend’s birthday party and show. I had a great time. I enjoyed the performances, talked with some friends and relaxed. I shot a little videoblog in the ladies room while I was flyering for Friday night’s show. I debuted my zombie dress. Loads of fun.

On the Road

I am back from Toronto. The Toronto Burlesque Festival was great. I must say some of the performances were breathtaking and I was left so entertained and so inspired. The people I spoke to were all so lovely. I am glad I went.
